Life Update!!

Ok, so I know it's been forever since I've updated this thing... Let's just say this semester was insane!  I had a full schedule of classes, I was working a part time job on campus, and I was doing my internship with Hattie Bates Photography.  I was busy.  But it was a great semester and I got through it ok.  This Christmas break has been so great for me to recoup and get ready for my last semester of college!  So anyways, I decided I would make one big post and give you the run down of what we've been up to for the past couple months.

For Thanksgiving this year we met up with my family in Layton, Utah for the weekend.  We had dinner with lots of my mom's family and then we got to go see the lights on Temple Square.  It was a lot of fun to get to be with family.

For Christmas we stayed home and just had a little Christmas with the two of us.  It was very different for me.  Especially since it was our first Christmas married.  But it was nice and we had a good time.
This is us on Christmas eve carrying over my family's tradition of opening up a gift before we go to bed.  It's always pjs!  P.S.  Justin had to have bears on his pjs so i ended up making them because he couldn't find any he liked! lol He's a goof!

Christmas day we went over to the Osborn's house for dinner.  It was a great time.  We had a wonderful dinner and then played some crazy games on the wii.  It was a blast.  It was also a special evening because they had invited a good friend of theirs over that is from Mexico.  Thor had a really strong desire to share his testimony with him and give him a spanish Book of Mormon.  So, I got the privilege to translate for him.  It was a very neat experience and what a wonderful gift to get on Christmas day.  Missionary experiences do still happen in Rexburg, Idaho!  Thanks Osborns!

This semester I took a watercolor class.  I was terrified in the beginning because my experiences with other painting classes haven't been the greatest.  But I actually discovered that I kinda liked watercolor painting.  I am no master but I think I did ok.  So here are some of the paintings I did.

This is one of the first ones we did.  The whole class painted the same thing.  I think it took us at least two weeks to get through it. But I was proud of it for being my first watercolor painting.

This is actually an emulation piece.  We had to pick a watercolor artist that we liked and try to paint one of their pieces just like they painted it.  This is a painting of Carthage Jail, the original was painted by Roland Lee.  It was tough to get it close to his but it was fun to do.

This was one of my favorites to paint!  It is one of our wedding pictures! I did it in black and white and I was pretty excited with how it turned out.

There are still a few more that I'd like to put up here but I haven't taken pictures of them yet.  So I'll get those up later.

Ok, moving on.  So like I said before, I did my internship with Hattie Bates.  She is amazing.  I learned so much while working from her!  She has been a great mentor and an awesome friend.  We had some good times this semester!  So I just thought I'd show you a few of the images that I took while working with Hattie.  There's so much but I'll only through in a few.

These are some pictures from a few weddings that I helped Hattie with.

And these are some newborn pictures I did for some good friends of ours.  Hattie helped me do them in her studio!

Ok, so besides doing photography with Hattie I also had a few gigs of my own this semester.  So here's a sneak peak at some of those. P.S. I'm currently working on getting a photography website or blog set up so there will be more to see when that happens!

So, that is a small but still somewhat lengthy update!  I hope I didn't bore you!  And hopefully I'll stay more current from now on! We'll see. :)

Hockney!

So this is a photo project experiment that I did over the summer.  I hadn't shown anyone that was in it yet and Josh was asking.  So here it is.  This one didn't turn out as great as the individual ones did but it still is a cool process.  It took lots of time to piece together all the images to get this all in one!  These kids were great models!   This is a bad crop but my photoshop isn't up and running on this computer right now.  So if you want a copy, I can email you a better one!

Flowers for You

Mom needed some flower images for the house so of course I couldn't let her just go get any image off of the internet.  So I went to the gardens on campus and took some shots and then played around with them in photoshop.  I had tons of fun with all the new things I learned!  I'm loving my new imac, it makes this stuff a lot more enjoyable!  Hope you like them!  Some of them are similar but have different color techniques to them.  Mom, pick the ones you want to print and the color schemes you like and I'll send you the right ones so they all match and the size you need!

I'll have some portraits that I recently took up soon so check back for those!
